Old picture of Durrenstein A.D. Donau

Dürnstein is a town in the Wachau in Krems-Land, Austria and a popular tourist destination. It got its name from the Castle above it, here just ruins. It was in this castle that King Richard the Lion-Hearted of England was held captive in 1193 by Duke Leopold V of Austria as a result of their dispute during the Third Crusade.
