I.O.M. Douglas Lighthouse and Bathing Cove
Photochrom picture of Isle of Man Douglas Head Lighthouse and Bathing Cove.
The lighthouse was built in 1857 by the engineering brothers David and Thomas Stevenson. The white tower is 20 metres in height and the light itself adds another 12 metres, totalling 32m.
With its eight reflectors made from silver, in 1831, the light has a nominal range of 24 miles. It was fully automated in 1986.
The tower was restructured in 1892, the picture above is as it is afterwards.
No info on the well structured outdoor swimming pool at the right. It looks well protected from the Irish Sea!
