Furness Abbey

Furness Abbey here are the remains of the former Cistercian monastery situated on the outskirts of the Cumbrian town, Barrow-in-Furness. The monastery was established in 1123 and flourished until 1537 when it was destroyed during the English Reformation under the order of Henry VIII.
